Terms and conditions
1. About these terms
Connect Me With is run by Ryan Horsnall, a sole trader trading as Connect Me With, of 2 Pavilion Court, West Hallam, Derbyshire, DE7 6JY (“we”, “us”, “our”). You can contact us at hello@connectmewith.co.uk.
These terms apply whenever you use connectmewith.co.uk. Sections 2 and 3 apply to everyone. Sections 4 to 9 apply if you list a business. By using the site you agree to these terms, so please read them. How we handle personal information is explained in our privacy policy.
2. Using Connect Me With to find a business
- Searching, browsing and contacting businesses is free for customers.
- We're a directory. We help you find and contact local businesses, but we aren't part of any agreement you make with them. Any quote, booking, work or payment is between you and the business.
- Businesses write their own listings. We don't check every business or the quality of its work, and we can't guarantee that a listing is accurate or that a business is available. A “Verified” badge means we've carried out basic checks on that business; it isn't a guarantee of its work.
- Before you hire anyone, check their details, qualifications and insurance where it matters, as you would with any business.
- If you think a listing is fake, misleading or inappropriate, use “Report this listing” on its page and we'll look into it.
3. Reviews and fair use
- Reviews must be honest and based on your own genuine experience of the business.
- You must not write fake reviews, review your own business, or offer or accept anything in return for a review. Businesses must not ask for reviews in a way that only collects positive ones.
- We may remove reviews that are fake, abusive, discriminatory, defamatory, off-topic or that share someone's personal details.
- Don't misuse the site. That includes sending spam, copying listings in bulk, trying to get into accounts that aren't yours, or interfering with how the site works.
4. Listing a business
- You must be 18 or over and have the right to list the business, as its owner or with the owner's permission.
- You act for your business when you list it. Our plans are for business use, so the consumer protections that apply to personal purchases don't apply to them.
- Your listing must be accurate and kept up to date, including your availability. It must not be misleading or break any law, and you must hold any licences, qualifications and insurance your work needs.
- You must own, or have permission to use, everything you upload, including logos and photos. You give us permission to show it on the site, in search results and when promoting Connect Me With. That permission ends when you remove it or close your account, except where it's already been shared (for example in a search engine's cache).
- Listings must not include anything offensive, discriminatory, illegal, sexually explicit, or that infringes someone else's rights, and must not promote anything other than your own genuine business.
- You're responsible for keeping your sign-in email secure and for anything done through your account.
5. Plans, free trial and payment
- Every listing needs a plan. Our plans are Starter (£19.99 a month), Growth (£29.99 a month) and Pro (£39.99 a month). What each plan includes is shown on our pricing page.
- Each business gets one 30-day free trial. If we ask for card details when you start it, nothing is taken until the trial ends. Your first payment is taken on day 31, and then every month on the same date until you cancel.
- Payments are taken in advance each month by our payment provider, Stripe. We never see your full card number.
- Prices include any VAT that applies. If we change a price, we'll email you at least 30 days before it affects you, and you can cancel before then.
- If a payment fails, we'll keep your listing showing for a few days while it's retried. If it still can't be taken, your listing stops showing to customers until your plan is paid.
- If your trial ends without a plan in place, or your plan ends, your listing stops showing to customers. Nothing is deleted: choose a plan and it goes straight back up.
6. Cancelling and changing your plan
- There's no contract or minimum term. You can cancel or change your plan at any time from your account.
- If you cancel during your free trial, you won't be charged anything.
- If you cancel after that, your plan runs until the end of the month you've paid for and isn't renewed. We don't refund part-months.
- If you move to a different plan, the change and any difference in price are worked out by Stripe at the time.
7. Introductions (refer a friend)
- If a business joins through your introduction link and makes its first payment after its free trial, you get one month free. There's no limit to how many you can earn.
- The free month is added as a credit worth one month of your current plan, taken off your next bill. If you're not paying through Stripe at the time, we add 30 days to your listing instead.
- Free months have no cash value and can't be transferred. You can't introduce your own business or businesses you control, and we may withhold or remove free months gained through fake or abusive introductions.
8. Leads and results
- We don't charge commission or per lead. Every enquiry you receive is yours to follow up.
- We work hard to bring you customers, but we can't promise a number of views, enquiries or jobs, or a particular position in search results. Where you appear depends on things like the customer's location, your plan, your reviews and how complete your listing is.
- When customers contact you, you're responsible for how you use their details, in line with data protection law. Only add other people's details as leads when you have a good reason to.
9. Hiding listings and closing accounts
- We may hide or remove a listing, or close an account, if we reasonably believe it breaks these terms, is fake or misleading, has had serious complaints, or puts customers at risk. Where it's reasonable to, we'll tell you why and give you a chance to put it right.
- If we close your account because you've broken these terms, we won't refund the current month.
- You can close your account at any time by emailing hello@connectmewith.co.uk. Cancel your plan first so you're not charged again.
10. Our responsibility to you
- We provide the site with reasonable care and skill, but we can't promise it will always be available or free from errors. We may change or update features from time to time.
- We aren't responsible for the work, products, prices or conduct of businesses listed on the site, or for what customers do.
- If you list a business, we aren't liable for any loss of profit, business or opportunity, and our total liability to you in any 12 months is limited to the amount you paid us in that period.
- Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else the law doesn't allow us to limit. If you're a customer using the site for personal reasons, these terms don't affect your legal rights as a consumer.
11. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as the site changes, and we'll show the date at the top. If a change significantly affects businesses with a plan, we'll email you at least 30 days before it takes effect.
12. Complaints and the law
If something goes wrong, email hello@connectmewith.co.uk and we'll do our best to sort it out quickly. These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales can deal with any dispute. If you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you can also bring proceedings in your local courts.
